Clip Charms and Stitch Markers

One of my earliest makes that turned out to be popular at markets are keyrings. These feature a variety of charms, as well as some handmade resin and clay charms on keychains. They’re great for small gifts and stocking fillers during the festive season. Lots of customers also picked out some to accessorise their own bags, keys, and lanyards, but also struggled to decide which to choose as there were so many options but they didn’t want the weight of too many keyrings put together.

This led me to make clip charms. Instead of keychains, the charms are attached to lobster clasps, so they can clip on to other things. The first aim for these was so customers who couldn’t decide between charms when keyring shopping, could choose one keyring and then add additional clip charms to the same chain, saving the weight and adding the fun and colour of the charms.

However there are so many other uses for them, making them versatile and perfect for gifting, as the customer can choose a charm based on something they know that the recipient would like, and then it can be used in whichever way suited them best. This could be adding the clip charms to jewellery such as necklaces or bracelets, or clipped onto bags, the pull tab of a zipper, lanyards, or even onto shoes and shoelaces if preferred.

Another similar item using charms like this is stitch markers and counters. These are mainly used for knitting and crochet, to keep track of certain spots or for marking where a pattern repeats or changes. They act as a visual to help with more difficult patterns and minimise errors. There are a few style varieties depending on the uses and preferences.

One example has a leverback clip which you can easily open and close to move to different positions as needed. Alternatively, you can use a variant with a jump ring instead of leverback clip. These are best used as a closed loop but can also be opened when necessary, but are not as suitable for repeated opening and closing as the leverbacks. In some cases the clip charms can also be used in this way, but have a much smaller loop in the lobster clasp so are a little more limited as stitch markers.

This is a newer collection for me so I am building it up slowly, both with individual clip charms and stitch markers, as well as sets and bundles. This includes sets with mixed styles of clasp, as well as some with the same clasp but different charms.

If you’d like to see more clasp styles available or choose a custom set of stitch markers or clip charms with charms of your choice, please message me and I’d be happy to make them for you!
