Hearing Aid Charms - What are they and why do I make them?
Some products were obvious choices as a jewellery business, such as earrings, necklaces, and jewellery sets. The hearing aid charm collection is a little different from the rest.
One style of earring I had previously made featured lines of beads with different charms at the end, mixing my love of the two materials. I enjoyed making them but they didn’t fully fit in with what was popular with my earring customers at the time.
Then I saw a post on Facebook, with someone asking if anyone made charms to fit hearing aids, giving examples of a few charms they liked the look of. While I didn’t have the exact same charms, they were similar to some I used for earrings, and the description of what she was looking for sounded like something I could make.
After further discussion and experimentation with beads, charms and sizing, we worked together to find a design that fit well and allowed her to personalise and be proud of her hearing aids! I made several pairs of hearing aid charms which she loved so much she returned to order more custom pairs and encouraged me to make them a permanent collection available on my website.
Like the earrings I made, the hearing aid charms have a customisable choice of bead colours and charms, but instead of earring hooks, they have jump rings. These jump rings are big enough to slide onto most hearing aids but can also be opened and closed if preferred.
The website collection contains premade, ready to ship charms, but I am happy to make custom orders to fit your style.
Something I love about jewellery is how personal it is. Everyone has a different style and image they want to project to the world, and jewellery is a great way to do that in a small, affordable and changeable way. Hearing aid charms take something that could look the same everyday, and provide a way to add your own personality and make them your own!
